Indian cuisine with a modern twist – Farzi Cafe, London

Onion Bhajiyas, Sev-puri chaat, Bombay Bhel, Mixveg Samosa, Paneer Tikka, Hara Bhara Kebab… Oooooooooooooooo Yes, you must have tried these famous Indian starters in many Indian restaurants. But how about a little twist, a little freshness, a little new technique added to your desi plates? Well, that’s what I wanted; I definitely love my chaats n tikkas with chutneys but I definitely wanted to try something fusion when I read about Farzi Cafe. It is a popular restaurant from Mumbai, India spreading its wings in London to offer a modern expression to traditional Indian cuisine. Located at Hay Market, Piccadilly Circus London, this modern spice bistro offers a delectable range of Indian classic dishes with their own variations. With a few options for vegetarians (never mind, we are used to it, isn’t!), this restaurant has an interesting menu splashing a twist to desiness. I opted for ‘Roasted Pumpkin Courgette Salad with Goat Curd’s Mousse’, this starter was fresh, different and quite interesting. I felt the menu was more designed to get a Cosmo crowd not much ‘Desi log’ (Indian groups), but that’s fine, I liked my plate. I personally liked those crispy truffles with nuts adding a distinct flavour. I missed taking good pics of other dishes – Dal Chawal Arancini and Bharwan Aloo, may be I will save this for the next post. Till then, if you are thinking to try Indian cuisine with a modern twist, visit Farzi Cafe.
